Lower Manhattan - Jamaica/JFK
Transportation Project

Project Scoping

The Federal Transit Administration and the project sponsors are seeking public and interagency input on the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for this project, including the alternatives to be considered and the environmental and community impacts to be evaluated.

The EIS will evaluate a No Action Alternative, a Baseline Alternative, and various Build Alternatives. The EIS will be preceded by an analysis of all feasible rail and non-rail based transportation alternatives that will improve travel in the corridor between the Lower Manhattan, Jamaica and JFK Airport travel hubs, including those generated by the scoping process. Scoping will be accomplished through meetings and correspondence with interested persons, organizations, and Federal, state, regional, and local agencies.

Written comments on the scope of the EIS should be sent by September 17th, 2005 to:

Mr. Chris Bastian, Project Manager
Metropolitan Transportation Authority
347 Madison Avenue
New York, New York, 10017

Comments about the project may also be sent via the MTA website: www.mta.info (In the e-mail template, select "Planning Studies", then "Lower Manhattan-Jamaica/JFK Link", then "Comments").

The scoping information packet may be requested by writing to this address or by calling (212) 266-8363.
